Working together to make a difference

Our purpose

The PiraMidd Partnership brings together local schools that share a commitment to improving the education, opportunities and experiences of children and families across Middleton.

The partnership builds on a strong history of schools working collaboratively, sharing expertise and supporting one another. We believe that schools are stronger when they work together: learning from effective practice, providing constructive support and challenge, and using our collective knowledge and experience to improve outcomes for children.

At the heart of the partnership is a simple principle: every school has something to contribute and every school has something to learn.

Our shared aims

Through the PiraMidd Partnership, we aim to:

• · Improve outcomes for all children, with particular attention to disadvantaged pupils, pupils with SEND and others who may be vulnerable or at risk of underachievement.

• · Raise aspirations for children, families, staff and the wider Middleton community.

• · Strengthen leadership through professional dialogue, collaboration, support and constructive challenge.

• · Share effective practice and expertise so that successful approaches can benefit children beyond an individual school.

• · Develop our staff by creating opportunities for teachers, support staff, leaders and governors to learn with and from colleagues across the partnership.

• · Build capacity for continuous improvement, helping our schools respond effectively to changing needs, new evidence and developments in education.

• · Make the best use of our collective resources and expertise for the benefit of children and families across Middleton.

How we work together

Our partnership is built upon trust, honesty, openness, professionalism and mutual respect.

Schools are committed to both giving and receiving support. We recognise that meaningful collaboration is more than simply sharing resources: it involves professional dialogue, reflection, appropriate challenge and a willingness to learn from one another.

We put this into practice through:

• · school-to-school support and peer review;

• · collaborative work between headteachers and senior leaders;

• · sharing expertise and effective practice;

• · joint professional development and training;

• · networks for teachers, support staff, leaders and governors;

• · collaborative projects focused on shared priorities;

• · opportunities for staff in similar roles and year groups to work together;

• · interschool events and competitions such as PiraMidd Poetry X Factor, Piramidd spelling bee and the PiraMidd dance competition.

• · joint work to identify and address barriers affecting vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils; and

• · partnership working with other professionals, services and organisations where this will improve support for children and families.

Supporting transition to secondary school

PiraMidd schools work closely with St Anne’s Academy and Edgar Wood Academy to provide a positive and well-planned transition from primary to secondary education. Through regular communication, shared information and opportunities to visit and experience secondary school, pupils become familiar with new environments, staff and expectations, helping to build confidence and break down barriers before they reach Year 7.

Both secondary schools also provide taster sessions, curriculum activities and enrichment opportunities, giving pupils access to specialist teaching, facilities and experiences that broaden the primary curriculum and raise aspirations. Where pupils have SEND or additional vulnerabilities, schools work together with families to provide enhanced and personalised transition support.

Through this close collaboration, transition is a journey rather than a single event, helping pupils feel confident, prepared and excited about the next stage of their education.

A partnership focused on children

Although our schools have their own individual identities, communities and priorities, we share a collective ambition for the children of Middleton.

By working together rather than in isolation, we can strengthen the quality of education within our individual schools while contributing to improvement across the wider community.

Our success as a partnership is ultimately measured by the difference our collaboration makes to children: their achievement, inclusion, wellbeing, aspirations and future opportunities.
