The School's Vision for the Future
At Parkfield, we will lay the foundations for all of our pupils’ lives by giving them a positive, rich and inspiring school experience. It will be characterised by a broad and balanced curriculum, with high standards of literacy and numeracy. This will be carried out in a happy, safe and nurturing environment.
There will be a strong commitment to helping all of our children to succeed and it will be underpinned through strong relationships with parents and the community. At Parkfield, our pupils will be engaged in learning that: develops their knowledge, lets them apply their skills, stretches them and excites their imagination.
‘Parkfielders’ will enjoy the curriculum by learning different things in many different ways – by: listening, watching, and doing. Pupils will learn: through play, in small groups and through art, music and sport. They will take pride in their learning and want to do well.
On their journey from Reception to Year 6, Parkfielders will encounter a range of memorable moments, inspirational opportunities and rich learning experiences. The curriculum will include plenty of opportunities to learn outside of the classroom: both in the local and wider environment. Exciting visits out of school and knowledgeable visitors coming in to school will enrich teaching and learning. We will support our pupils develop a well-rounded ‘Parkfield Character’ focussing on social, emotional, spiritual, physical and cultural development.
The Parkfield staff team will develop a curriculum that offers rich, exciting programmes of learning, making changes and improvement over time to ensure that their lessons remain relevant and interesting, underpinned by regular training and findings from educational research. Resources will be used flexibly and imaginatively. There will be no sense of a tension between ‘high standards’ and ‘exciting learning’.
All of the teaching and learning will be of a high quality, and it will be planned and managed so that every child is supported and challenged.
The school’s core values of being Positive, Ambitious, Resilient and Kind will be promoted and celebrated across the school. They will support our community’s high expectations and help drive whole school improvement.
- Positive- We are confident in ourselves and have a happy personality.
- Ambitious- We have high expectations and always try our best to achieve our goals.
- Resilient- We are confident that we can overcome challenges and learn from them to make us stronger.
- Kind- We are always caring, helpful and friendly to others.
Safeguarding our pupils will have the highest priority and we will ensure that all statutory requirements for protecting children are firmly in place. We are committed to meeting the needs of each individual especially those identified in the 2010 Equality Act. All protected characteristics will be recognised and accepted and embedded in all areas - these will include: disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, homosexuality, bi-sexuality, trans-sexual. British values will also be actively promoted, with pupils being encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance, and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
We will offer every Parkfielder – whatever their own individual characteristics – the chance to reach their full potential. We will achieve high standards for all of our children, giving them foundations for future learning, and for success in life.
